Behind the Scene's: Uncle Jut + 704 Shop Skyline Tee

Our buddy Justin McErlain, aka Uncle Jut, just launched his website over at www.unclejut.com

He recently wrote a blog post describing his experience collaborating with us to create a Charlotte skyline t-shirt. Here's what he had to say:

"One of the most exciting things about Charlotte is how fast the city is growing. I’ve been living down here for a few years now and the development and construction of the area has been amazing to watch. You can drive down any road and there’s no doubt you’ll see some kind of new building going up.

What’s even more amazing than all the new buildings being constructed is all the new businesses and entrepreneurs that are stamping their names amongst the top of The Queen City. None of which are doing a better job than 704 Shop. First and foremost, the crew over at 704 Shop are some of the most genuine people you will ever meet. They’ve gone above and beyond to help promote local artists like myself. If you are in anyway affiliated with Charlotte or the surrounding area, you most likely know who they are and probably even have one of their many dope apparel items representing this great city.

When I first began posting my photography on Instagram, these guys were one of the first to show support and would often repost my photos which helped grow my follower base a ton. They were even cool enough to send me a couple of tee shirts and a hat which I’ve been able to get some really cool shots of.

Then one morning in early November, Scott of 704 Shop hit me up with an idea for a “Black Friday Tee Shirt” and asked if I could capture a black & white style photo of the city for the shirt. I couldn’t have been more stoked about the possibility of having one of my photos on a tee shirt, never the less a 704 Shop tee. Because we’re both like minded and share a similar passion for the art, very little discussion was needed. I knew exactly what he was looking for and went to the only spot I thought would match his vision. The weather on this particular morning was just right, and to be honest with you it only took but a few photos to “get the shot”. I was able to throw an edit on a few different versions and sent them over to him right away. Within no time, Scott replied that it was exactly what he envisioned.

The rest is history…the tee shirt was launched on December 11th and I couldn’t be more happy with it. It sold out in just days and has since been re-ordered. This has been by far the coolest thing I’ve been a part of since I first picked up my camera. My entire family practically has one and seeing them wear my photo on a tee makes me the happiest guy alive.

To Scott and the rest of the 704 Shop crew, I appreciate you guys to the fullest and support/believe in what you’re doing. You guys make me proud to live in Charlotte and I’m honored to be a part of your team.
