It looks like the NBA All-Star game will be getting the 704 treatment in 2017. Sweet!
It was widely speculated that Charlotte would be hosting an All-Star game in either 2017 or 2018, especially after the city agreed to make some upgrades to Time Warner Cable arena. $33.5 million of the $40 million in upgrades will be paid by the city of Charlotte and solidified winnin the bid.
The official date for the All-Star game in 2017 haven't yet been set, however we do know that the game will take place in Febraury. It will be the first time that Charlotte has hosted an All-Star game since 1991 in Charlotte Coliseum, which doesn't even exist anymore.
Fans from all over the country travel to see All-Star weekend which will include a Slam-Dunk Contest, 3-point contest, and of course the actual game on Sunday evening.
Season ticket holders for the Hornets will likely have some sort of access to tickets. If you're on the fence about becoming a season ticket holder, this should be enough to push you over the other side. The NBA uses the majority of tickets to schmooze sponsors and network so tickets to the game will be scarce.
