Fact Friday 190 - Carolina Thread Trail
Share
Happy Friday!
Consistent warm weather is right around the corner, so I know you're ready for more outdoor activity! I know I am!
Why not take in some trails this spring and summer?
Did you know that 88 local governments across 15 counties have come together to plan a network of over 1,600 miles of connected trails throughout the Carolinas?
Each county’s Master Plan was carefully created to take the trails through key places and points of interest within their communities. Mecklenburg County is a big participant, with over 50 miles completed and over 170 miles planned. Notable trails are the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, Irwin Creek and Stewart Creek Greenways, Uptown Charlotte Sidewalk Connector, Clark's Creek and Mallard Creek Greenways, and Toby Creek Greenway.
Trails, greenways and blueways provide innumerable benefits to our communities and enrich our lives in many ways. Greenways and trails not only encourage friends, families and communities to interact with each other and nature, but they also provide a venue for physical activities such as walking, jogging, running, in-line skating and biking. The associated physical and psychological health benefits of these activities are significant.
Until next week!
Chris.
